Summary:
This is a hands-on manufacturing designer that will support the manufacturing of multiple products within our client’s manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: may include any or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for top drives and other related assemblies, mechanical equipment, etc. using computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) computer software
- Work in conjunction with other engineers, project and shop personnel to produce detailed lay outs, hand sketches/drawings and project notes to convert into CADD blueprints
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
- Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials
- Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines
- Confer with shop personnel to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to assembly procedures and instructions
- Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
- Plot and manage CAD files, original plots, and CNC part programs per company standards and manage the electronic file backups.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
2-Year degree highly preferred
3+ years of design related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of 3-D experience
Oil & gas industry/product design experience is required.
Knowledge of Top Drives is high preferred
Other Skills, Abilities, etc.:
Must have experience in the use of all applicable design/drafting programs, specifically Inventor
Advanced working knowledge of the practical application of computer-assisted design and drafting, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and various software applications in the design and production of various manufactured products
