A Northwest Houston Fabrication facility is seeking to hire an experienced Shipping & Receiving Manager to lead the department to ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective shipping of their final products.

Salary: $48-$55k
In this role you’d be responsible for a crew of about 5 others shipping products both domestically and internationally. As a hands-on manager you’ll spend the majority of your time on the floor with your crew working together to ensure goals are met and materials are shipped on time.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Determine staff needs, schedule personnel and assign work.
- Maintain daily objectives and ensure work goals are met in optimally.
- Initiate personnel actions for approval by management and supervise directly hourly associates.
- Perform supervisory responsibilities complying with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Plan, assign and direct work to all team members.
- Interview, hire and train associates.
- Manage staff members by appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensure to acquire proper material flow from receipt, storage to production.
- Manage, monitor, consolidate and retrieve storage to allow maximum utilization of space.
- Ensure on time loading of outbound material and projects.
- Ensure on time unloading of inbound material to avoid any detention charges.
- Provide high level of quality standards throughout facility.
- Perform essential HR functions as staffing, team leadership, associate development, corrective action and performance evaluations.
- Manage leadership staff members to ensure efficient product flow within building.
- Monitor and resolve work place safety issues to reduce worker’s compensation claims.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years in a Supervisory role shipping fabricated products.
- At least 5 years of experience shipping goods domestically and internationally.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent math skills
